Question: Where are you located?
 
Answer: Wherever you are!  We are strictly a mobile service for In-Home and Commercial customers and we cover all of greater Oro Valley, Tucson, and Green Valley.
 
 
Question: What should I do to prepare for a service visit?
 
Answer: Here are some suggestions that will make our work quick and more effective:
1) Make sure your computer is fully accessible. We may need to get inside the computer, so having easy access to the computer is essential.
 
2) Have all original manufacturer CD's that came with your computer readily available.
 
3) Feel free to ask questions if you like. Our passion is computers and educating others.
 
Question: How long does a service call usually take?
 
Answer: The overall time of a service call can vary by the service needed. The "average" job is usually 1 and 1/2 hours.  If it will require too much more time, we may recommend to take the PC back to our shop.

 
Question: How much will the service cost?
 
Answer: Diagnostics FREE with any service. We have FLAT RATE pricing or PER HOUR pricing depending on the job. Troubleshooting and miscellaneous tasks would be PER HOUR rate for instance. Installing hardware or software, system restorations, virus/spyware/adware removal, etc would charged at FLAT RATE. $20 trip charge for those more than a certain driving mileage. Question: Do you guarantee your work?
 
Answer: Yes.  We guarantee all hardware labor and some software services. We urge safe internet security practices to avoid virus, spyware, and adware from existing on your computer. Contact us for more information.

Virus, spyware, and adware is usually caused by the internet activity of the under of a computer system. We urge good internet practices
 

Question: My computer crashed and I cannot get into Windows. Can you retrieve my documents, music, email, pictures, and other data, etc?
 
Answer: Yes we can. In most cases data retrieval is successful; depends on the damage severity of the hard drive. Please Contact us for more details. If you are hearing loud whining, grinding, clicking, or other mechanical noises coming from your computer (hard drive), stop without question, continuing use of the computer may cause further damage to your data or information.

 
Question: What best brand or manufacturer when purchasing a new computer?
 
Answer: Today, computers by all manufactures are similar. Based on experience of repair there are some PC's that you might want to avoid but that doesn't mean that a certain machine are not going to last five years or more. Be careful when buying online. TRU-TEK Computers can offer suggestions on new and custom built computers.

 
Question: Does the time start when you get to my house or when you are traveling?
 
Answer: Service fees and charges vary on services needed. We do not charge for travel time, but there is a $20 flat travel fee for those more than a certain driving mileage.

 
Question: Can I bring my computer to you to have it worked on?
 
Answer: No, sorry.  Again, we are strictly a mobile service.
 
 
Question: Do you offer phone support?
 
Answer: Generally not, however, if you need assistance or clarification of our service visit, we will be happy to help you over the phone.  If you inquire about an repairs, upgrades, or other service we will be glad to offer a solution for your computer needs.
 
 
Question: What if my PC needs to have Windows XP reinstalled. What do I need to know and what steps can I take to prepare for this?
 
Answer: If your PC is in need of a software rebuild, we'll need to format (erase data) your system and reinstall Windows. We HIGHLY recommend backing up your data prior to any major system changes. If you need assistance we can help.
 
Please gather all of the CD's or installation disks for any programs that you are using on your computer. This includes such programs as:
 
1) Software Programs:
  • Windows CD or manufacturer restore disks, if your computer came with any. Some manufacturers no longer give out these CD's, so you may not have one. You may be able to burn recovery disks depending on the make and model of the computer.
  • AntiVirus or Firewall software, such as Norton, McAfee, Zone Alarm, etc.
  • Personal finance or accounting/tax software, such as Quicken, Quickbooks, Microsoft Money, Peachtree, Turbo Tax, etc.
  • Games, Photo Editing, CD/DVD Burning, and any programs you installed after you bought your computer
  • Internet service programs such as America Online, Earthlink, Net Zero, etc.
  • Microsoft Office (includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access, and Outlook)

2) Data Files:

THIS IS IMPORTANT! List of any other data or information you want to keep and tell us what you want us to backup. This usually includes:
  • Contents of the 'My Documents' folder (documents, pictures, music and multimedia files) and 'Shared Documents' folder.
  • Favorite Internet sites/bookmarks
  • Email, Address Book, and other office software user files.
  • Financial data from programs such as Quicken, Quickbooks, Microsoft Money, etc.
Question: How do I keep my computer "in shape" or making sure my computer is safe from threats?
